Post-calving problems & how Propreg helps
Many problems that lead to reproductive failure stem from disease and infection after calving, when the immune system is stressed and the reproductive microbiome (reproBIOME™) is compromised. Even after calving, the reproBiome™ can experience frequent disruptions and damage throughout the entire lactation cycle. Repairing this damage before breeding is crucial. Re-establishing a healthy reproBiome™ and uterine environment prior to breeding enhances your cow's ability to breed back efficiently and reach her full production potential.
Critical Challenges in Calving, Post-Calving, and Breeding
Tough on cows
Calving is not only physically damaging to cows, but their immune system, hormone levels, and overall stress levels are disrupted. This makes her more susceptible to infections post-calving.
Bacterial invasion
Cows don't calve into super-clean environments like a hospital; they calve on a dairy farms. Pathogenic bacteria from the environment can easily enter and colonize the reproductive tract, leading to infections such as metritis, endemtritis, and pyometra.
Inflammation
The bacterial infection of the reproductive tract is correlated to extensive inflammation of the uterus. The inflammation in the uterus is what delays uterine involution and resumption of cyclicity.
Breeding protocol disruptions
A cow's reproBIOME™ is affected by the fluctuations in hormone and stress levels during various breeding protocols. Depending on the specific procedure, foreign pathogens may be introduced, disrupting a healthy reproBIOME™. Evidence suggests that during high-value protocols, such as oocyte harvesting and embryo transfers, maintaining a healthy reproBIOME™ profile can support breeding efficiency.
How ProPreg helps
ProPreg is designed to repair & restore the reproductive tract in anticipation of breeding activities. It helps to counteract the disruptions of the reproBIOMETM caused by various breeding protocols and challenges from the lactation cycle. By incorporating ProPreg into your pre-breeding routines, you can:
Optimize reproductive health
Enhance breeding efficiency
Support overall reproductive performance
Dairy cows on ProPreg can breed back efficiently, enable them to enter the next lacation cycle and stay in the herd longer. ProPreg is to help her reach their full lifetime production potential.
WHEN TO USE - PRE-BREEDING
Incorporate ProPreg into your synchronization programs
Note: Multiple options are provided for your scheduling convenience. All ProPreg programs involve application at the start of, and soon after the end of your Voluntary Waiting Period (VWP). Light restraint is needed to safely administer ProPreg.
OPTION 1 - Double-OvSynch with Timed-AI
After the VWP, administer one dose of ProPreg (10 mL) at the first (1st) GnRH, a second dose of ProPreg (10 mL) at the third (3rd) GnRH, and a final dose of ProPreg (10 mL) at the last (4th) GnRH administration.
OPTION 2 - OvSynch with Timed-AI
After the VWP, administer one dose (10 mL) of ProPreg at the first (1st) and second (2nd) GnRH, or with Pre-Synch at each PGF administration.
OPTION 3 - No Synchronization
Administer two doses of ProPreg (20 mL) at the end of the voluntary waiting period, and another two doses of ProPreg (20 mL) immediately after insemination.

How to use ProPreg
Directions for Use
ProPreg is for use only in healthy cattle by topical intravaginal administration. Restrain cattle appropriately for administration. Use of disposable gloves is recommended. Ensure administration area is clean. Place bayonet-twist cartridge into dosing gun. Remove cartridge cap and secure the clear applicator extension tube to the end of cartridge. Clean and dry the extension tube with an antiseptic wipe. Use appropriate lubricant on the extension tube if needed. Gently pass extension tube tip past the vulva and insert approximately 6-9 inches (near the junction of the flexible part of the applicator extension tube). Administer 1-full trigger and slowly withdraw. Clean surface of the applicator extension tube in-between administrations.
Dosage Rate
Only use the Healthy Cow Applicator Caulking gun. One full pull (1-click) of the trigger delivers the correct 10mL ProPreg gel. Make sure the stop screw is set at 10mL on the dosing gun. To ensure an adequate first dose, squeeze the trigger (to prime) until the gel appears at the tip of the extension tube. To store, clean the extension applicator tube and replace the cap on the cartridge. See Storage directions.
Storage
Keep cool or store at controlled room temperature 20o - 25oC (68o - 77oF). DO NOT FREEZE.
